Greenstone has Energy Star appliances, low-energy compact florescent lighting, and water-saving showers and water-saving dual-option toilets in every unit. Charging stations for twenty-first century electric vehicles are planned. The construction of Greenstone Inn was conservation mindful. Tear-down materials from the old cottages were recycled as far as possible. Wooden members were salvaged for reuse; if unusable due to mold or deterioration, old wood was disposed of by chipping. Asbestos was responsibly removed and disposed of. The Greenstone Inn blogspot has more photos of the teardown/recycle phase of construction. Wherever possible, renewable and/or recycled materials were used to build and furnish Greenstone: recycled structural steel wood-clad doors and window frames certified renewable-forest wood used throughout low volatile-organic-component (VOC) paints Itegra Fabrics: drapery and upholstery fabrics from renewable and recycled materials such as plastic water bottles Northwest Carpets new carpeting from recycled materials Wood Castle top quality sustainable furniture manufactured locally Local contractors and labor have been employed in every phase.
